The CPTSA Science Forum is a chance for the Science Leaders from affiliated schools to meet, network and share best practice and training. Meetings have a different focus every half term and often feature guest speakers or demonstrations from local Science providers.

In its first meeting, the forum welcomed Kate Redhead from the Primary Science Teaching Trust, who shared her advice and experience in setting up a successful forum. Since then, we have heard from Chris Catto of the Science Learning Partnership, who arranged a brilliant bespoke training session on assessment and working scientifically led by Linda Atherton.

We have also experienced an explosive demo of 'bubble science' from Jim Bell of the Explorer Dome company. Feedback from Forum attendees has been extremely positive; our members really appreciate the chance to share ideas and support with other Science Leaders. We are hopeful that we can build on a successful first year and gain more new members in the new school year.

We've set the first Science Network meeting of the year for Thursday 10th October here at Colmore: 3.45 for a 4-5pm meeting.

Focus: Aims of the year and start to look at what we suggested could be a main focus - helping each other prepare for the demands of the new OFSTED framework, sharing how we are planning to prepare for this greater scrutiny. and how intent, implementation and impact might be evidenced in Science in our schools.

It would be fantastic if everyone could come along and share how their school is planning to do this.
